The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) announces the launch of the online Paralysis Community, a place for dialogue about spinal cord injury or disease, and about all issues related to paralysis.
Members of The Paralysis Community will be able to connect with other members who have spinal cord injuries and/or paralysis or care for those who do. You may participate in discussion groups, post personal profiles with an optional photo, invite members to be friends, and build your own online support network. You can also create a personal ‘blog’ -- an online diary where you are free to express your feelings. You may allow others to comment on your blog entries.
Membership is free, but you will need to register for the community with a valid email address. Your email address will never be shared without your express permission.

Identity Management
Set up a profile on the site and, once you sign in, you will be identified by your screen name in the community. You decide how much information you wish to share with others.

The safety of our members’ information is very important to us, and everything in this Community is informed by healthcare privacy concerns. Online transmissions are protected via SSL, the same technology used to safeguard online bank transactions.
Blogs
Create your own blog for longer postings that aren’t really for discussion but you want to share. You can allow other members to comment on a blog entries or turn that feature off, as you wish. You may also identify your 'favorite' blogs, for convenient reading and in order to be notified of new entries.
Messages
Communicate with other community members without disclosing your email address. Our Message area feature lets you send messages back and forth to your ‘Friends.’ You may also control which notifications you wish to receive, and keep up with your favorite discussions and blogs through alerts.
Surveys
There will be periodic surveys on the site in which you may anonymously participate; these may be set up to provide feedback about the community.
